There’s not much time left to be innovative when balancing the responsibilities of IT Business Analysts and Project Managers, identifying and coordinating the fulfillment o system requirements from business teams and managing consultants and internal resources. To give the opportunity for brilliant ideas to flourish, a team of about 12 people in the IT department (composed of 80 employees) organized IT Innovation Days.
I was on the Innovate IT team and helped organize events dedicated to discussing new ideas. The events occurred every other month, on a weekday. In addition to our other daily activities, the team and I worked on securing speakers, proper settings and lighting, developing advertisement material and negotiating with IT management. The outcomes were very innovative and exciting, as the team got more creative and motivated with new ideas resulting in projects that solved issues previously neglected.
