Having a background in procurement and tax processes, it was exciting to me when I was asked to manage a project for the Human Resources department of the company I was working for. The scope was to implement an online tool for booking flights and accommodation, which would replace the one that was in place.
When assigned to the project, things were not going well. There was no transparency in how the issues being reported by the key-users were being handled by the consulting company. The first thing I did was to organize all the issues in a list and periodically follow-up with the consultants.
This organization gave me a better overview of how things were going, and help me to negotiate with the HR Director which were the issues that were show-stoppers, focus on them and determine when the platform was ready to replace the previous one, what was done successfully in 2015.
